Writer's FAQ's

Here are some frequently asked questions and comments that we would like to address for all writers who are thinking about writing an article to be published on one of our websites. Please read through the FAQs since these together with the Writer's Guidelines and Writer's Market / Current Needs sections should cover 99-percent of the questions we receive.

You guys pay such a low fee. Why?

We're a small operation and had to decide whether to give writers the opportunity to publish and showcase their work or else not give any opportunities and do all of our writing in-house. We thought that by offering to buy first Internet rights with only a 21-day "no publishing elsewhere period" that the low fee would not matter to many writers since they could then publish their work elsewhere and make more money on the same article.

I still don't understand why you don't pay more?

We know writers are frustrated with low paying markets. Our group of websites is a chance for writers to showcase their work, build up tearsheets and actually get paid for their work, even if its only a little. With our group of websites, it's truly either low fee or no fee as previously stated. You are free not to work with us. Remember, though, we are not buying All Rights like some publishers who pay low fees. We are only buying First Internet Rights and you are free to sell your work elsewhere after it has been published on one of our websites for 21 days.

What happens if I publish the same article on the Internet before the 21 days is up?

We do automated scans on the Internet to make sure articles that are sold to us do not appear before the 21 days has elapsed. If we see that a writer has violated this agreement, we do not work with him / her again.

I have an article that was previously published in print but not on the Internet. Would you be interested in this?

Possibly. If you have not sold all rights or any other rights that include the Internet rights, we may be interested if the article fits in with one listed on our Writer's Market / Current Needs list. Any writer, though, who violates rights they have already sold or copyrights they do not have is not welcomed here.

You guys sound pretty harsh. Am I going to want to submit articles here?

If you're a writer who reads all of the guidelines, current needs lists and FAQs and submits articles we've stated were are looking for, then you'll like working with us. We're a fun bunch! We only get grumpy when a writer has obviously not done his or her homework on this site. We ask that you not waste our time and we will do the same.

Do I have to write search engine optimized articles to be published here?

Articles that are on-topic and are optimized for the search engines are given preference. We want these articles to be found in the search engines and bring in traffic. The articles also need to be well-written so that human visitors will find value in them. If you can do both, then chances are you will be successful here.
